Cambodian consonants are classified into two groups: Group “ɔɔ” (low registered sound or first series) and Group “oo” (high registered sound or second series).

[1] The first series consonants “ឋ “ and “ថ” have the same pronunciation.  The words that are borrowed from Sanskrit are more often used with consonant .

[2] The second series consonants “ឍ “ and “ធ” have the same pronunciation.  The consonant “ឍ” is rarely used.
