The Verb ចង់​ “want” in Khmer

Similar to the English language, the term ចង់ is employed to denote necessity. It is followed by the infinitive to, but ចង់បាន is substituted for ចង់ when it is followed by a noun.

Compare

ខ្ញុំចង់រៀនភាសាខ្មែរ។ “I want to learn Khmer.”
ខ្ញុំចង់បានសៀវភៅភាសាខ្មែរមួយក្បាល។​ “I want a Khmer language book.”
