Chapter 7.2 Adverbs in Tamil

Tamil Adverbs 

In Tamil, most nouns can be made into adverbs by adding the suffix “ஆக”. Let us look at the use of the same words that we used as adjectives in their adverbial form. We will also use the same kind of sentence for this part. Here, you will see the use of “இரு” in the sentences.

For reference, here are the sentences using the adjectives again:

தாமரை அழகான பூ – Lotus is a beautiful flower.

நீளமான கயிறால் கட்டினான் – He used a long rope to tie.

அது பச்சையான சட்டை -That is a green shirt.

கடல் நீர் உப்பானது – Seawater is salty.

அவர் உயரமான ஆள் – He is a tall man.

Now let us look at the adverbial forms of the same sentences:

தாமரை அழகாக இருக்கிரது The lotus is beautiful.

அவன் கட்ட்டும் கயிறு நீளாமக இருக்கிரது The rope he is tying is long.

ஆந்த சட்டை பச்சையாக இருக்கிரது That shirt is green.

கடல் நீர் உப்பாட இருக்கும் Sea water will be salty.

அவர் உயரமாக இருக்கிறார் He is tall.
