By the end of this unit you will be able to:

• name some of the parts of the body
• talk about your health and being sick
• give advice about what to do, and not do (using надо, не надо, and imperatives)
• ask for and understand directions for getting to a location
• give basic directions for getting somewhere on foot
• name major tourist sites in and around Petersburg
• give your impressions of tourist sites and activities
• read and understand a small excerpt from Pushkin’s Евгений Онегин
• read and understand a text about tourist destinations around Irkutsk
• understand how a university’s oral exam system of “tickets” works
• read and understand a story about taking oral exams in Russia

To achieve these outcomes, you will learn this information about the language:

1. the у меня болит… construction to say something hurts
2. the conjugation of the verbs чувствовать себя and болеть
3. constructions of sentences using these two verbs
4. the use of the reflexive pronoun свой
5. the imperative forms of verbs
6. the forms of soft adjectives (последний, синий, древний, etc.)
7. terms related to exams and grading in Russia (сдавать/сдать экзамен, пятёрка)
