Part 1: Introduction: The Nature of Science and Physics

This part introduces the foundations of physics and the scientific method. You will learn how physicists investigate the natural world, how physical quantities are measured, and why units, precision, and uncertainty are essential to scientific work. These concepts form the basis for all later topics in physics and are equally important in biology, chemistry, engineering, and the health sciences.

You will also develop the mathematical and experimental skills needed throughout this textbook, including the use of the International System of Units (SI), significant figures, estimation techniques, and scientific reasoning. Mastering these fundamental tools will allow you to interpret measurements correctly, solve quantitative problems, and communicate scientific results clearly.
