Writing Vowels


The Tibetan writing system has four vowels and one semivowel.

Vowel Mark Sound (Approx.) Example
  ི /i/ ཀི་ = ki
/u/ ཀུ་ = ku
  ེ /e/ ཀེ་ = ke
  ོ /o/ ཀོ་ = ko
ཨ་ (semivowel) /a/ or /ə/ (default sound) ཀ་ = ka
