3.5 Speaking About Multiple Actions in Past
In this section, we will learn to speak about multiple actions in past. For instance, here are two separate actions:
- నేను ఇంటికి వెళ్ళాను.
- ఇంట్లో టీవీ చూశాను.
To make this a single sentence, we need to use a non-finite (incomplete action) verb. In the above two sentences, the initial action was to go home: ఇంటికి వెళ్ళాను.
It is followed by another action, watching television: టీవీ చూశాను.
Non-finite forms usually end with ఇ. So, వెళ్ళు becomes వెళ్ళి.
When using non-finite for the initial action, it now it becomes నేను ఇంటికి వెళ్ళి, టీవీ చూశాను.
Here are a few examples with non-finite:
- అమ్మ పుస్తకం చదివి, నిద్రపోయింది.
- వాడు క్రికెట్ ఆడి, ఇంటికి వచ్చాడు.
- వాళ్ళు సినిమా హాలుకు వెళ్ళి, సినిమా చూశారు.
- ఆమె ఆఫీసు నుంచి వచ్చి, కాఫీ తాగింది.
- నాన్న గారు టిఫిన్ తిని, టీ తాగారు.
