Chapter 3. Chador

Chador is worn by Muslim women in various countries around the world but many countries are banning this clothing, especially in public spaces and with various reasons. In this lesson, we will learn about and discuss the banning of chador in Indonesia and reasons why Muslim women wear it.

At the end of this lesson, students are able to:

  • analyze different opinions (controversy) surrounding the ban of chador in Indonesia,
  • identify reasons why Muslim women wear chador,
  • express their opinion on the topic,
  • defend their opinion regarding the topic,
  • use the circumfix pe(N)-an and per-an correctly in their speaking and writing.
